MINUTES OF THE FHHD BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
7:30pm Tuesday, May 30, 2000
Members Present: Dave Tillman, Scott Smith, Evonne Kakos, Cindy Bohn,
Mike Assenmacher, Teresa Klimkiewicz
Absent: Carter Brown
No minutes from previous meeting were read as none had been taken. Dave Tillman (DT) began meeting by recapping the status of the Edison Street Sale to be held on Saturday, June 3rd. Margaret Schreiber (Edison) has offered her front lawn for placement of the FHHD Sale Tent. Mike Assenmacher (MA) offered to pick up the tent (red/white) from the Cornea's. Kurt Klimkiewicz, Scott Smith (SS) and DT offered to set up and tear down the tent before and after the street sale.
Review of gifts: Donated items include one (1) overnight stay at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Detroit (from Gerry VanAcker), four (4) free loaves of Breadsmith bread, one (1) handmade purse (from Erica Morrison Beech Street), one (1) dental bleaching (from Evonne Kakos Nona Street), and miscellaneous FHHD merchandise (including but not limited to a coffee mug, baseball cap, T-shirt or sweatshirt). Cindy Bohn (CB) will ask her employer, English Gardens, to donate a gift certificate. Scott Hossack (of Nona) offered a $250 gift certificate for his business, California Closets. The Board voted that, as long as this was not a "lost leader" and the winner could actually receive something of value for $250, then the donation would be accepted. DT will follow up with Mr. Hossack. It was further agreed that winners of door prizes need not be present to win.
Laura Hamilton will be contacted for sale of FHHD merchandise at the street sale. SS offered to purchase soft drinks for public sale from the district at the street sale. SS further offered a poster board on which to advertise the door prizes. DT will purchase a roll of tickets for the door prize. Teresa Klimkiewicz (TK) will provide the receptacle in which to put the tickets. Kurt Klimkiewicz was volunteered to "letter" the poster board. SS, DT, TK, CB offered to work the FHHD tent. It was suggested that all baked goods be delivered to the tent the morning of the street sale.
DT made the suggestion for future street sales that business owners who live in the FHHD may want to advertise their businesses at a table during the sale. A "This is who we are and this is what we do" theme. Suggestion pending for future.
MA read the FHHD financial status.
DT provided a brief status of the FHHD district signs. A California attorney friend of Sylvia Tillman has offered to send a strong letter to the person who currently has the mold, requesting that either the mold be returned or the money be returned. DT further stated that John Tanner is also willing to help secure signage for the district.
DT requested a flyer and volunteers for wood/brush bundling at the Park Street Park. TK will prepare the flyer for distribution. The date agreed on was Wednesday, June 8, 2000 at 7:00pm.
No other business was tabled. Meeting adjourned at 8:20pm.
