Pumpkin The FHHD Pumpkin Carving Contest is just around the
corner. Light your jack-o-lanterns
from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30. We
will have judges walk a street each to pick their favorites. Then the group of judges will drive the
neighborhood together to decide on the top 3 jack-o-lanterns. -
Don’t blow the candles out too early!! The prizes will be gift certificates to Toys ‘R’ Us, Mongolian
Barbeque or Merchant’s Warehouse (winner’s pick) of $30, $20 and $10. The winners will be announced at the warming station (see below) at
8:00 p.m. |
A Tour of Season’s Past This year’s FHHD home tour should be one of
our best! Unlike past years’ tours,
this year’s fundraiser will be of homes throughout the entire district. We have 10 confirmed homes at this time,
and are still accepting volunteers! “A Tour of Season’s Past”
will be held on This
is a major fund-raiser for the district and takes a lot of work. We could use your help! We need volunteer docents, and need to
staff the ticket sale and bake sale tables.
Please donate baked goods that day if you can (location to be
announced). If
you know that one of your neighbors is on the tour, please support them by
being a docent for their home. Please
call Sylvia Tillman (278-4055) or Teresa Klimkiewicz (563-2457) and let them know how you
can help Thanks in advance - we
appreciate your support! |

Take a stroll through the district, and check out the creative jack-o-lanterns that your neighbors have on display during the pumpkin carving contest. The stroll will take place from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Halloween Eve (Tuesday, October 30). We will have a warming station under the tent at
22425 Edison (thank you to the Edgell family for letting us use your front
yard!). There will be hot and cold
apple cider and doughnuts at the warming station. Thank you to the other families that also volunteered their
front yards. We appreciate your
community spirit! |

FHHD Fall
Meeting
Wednesday, Nov. 7:
7:30pm IMPORTANT NOTE: Because of delays in school sporting schedules due to the cancellation of games after the tragic events of Sept 11, WE WILL NOT BE HAVING A BABY SITTING SERVICE for this meeting as advertised in the last newsletter. We’ll try to get this organized for the spring meeting. We are delighted to announce
that Mike
Skinner will be presenting at the meeting!! Mike is a former FHHD resident, and is
arguably one of the foremost exports on Henry Ford in the country. He will give us a presentation on Henry
Ford and on the FHHD homes at the meeting.
We will also have Xerox copies of all 141 photographs of FHHD homes from the Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village archives! These pictures were taken between 5/7/1919 and 7/8/1920 to document various stages of the construction process. Some people in the district have ordered reproductions of one or more photographs for display in their homes. We will have order forms at the meeting if you would like to order a picture for yourself. |

Request For Owners of
Antique Cars & Bikes To add to the charm of the Tour of Season’s Past
home tour, we would like to ask everyone who owns and antique car or bicycle
(or other vehicle) to please bring it along!
We would like to have the vehicles and their owners in front of as many
homes on the tour as possible. |
||||
|
There are often lines of people waiting outside
the homes for their turn to go in for the tour. It would be a bonus if we had these vehicles and their owners
to talk to the people on the tour. We
would especially love to have vehicles from the period the homes were built
(1919-1920’s), but all historic items are welcome. Please ask any friends you know with vehicles if they would
consider joining us for the afternoon of the home tour on Sunday, December 2. We will give them two complimentary passes
to view the homes after the tour is over if they join us from 1:00 – 6:00 pm
for the tour. Please call Sylvia Tillman (278-4055) or Teresa
Klimkiewicz (563-2457) to make arrangements. |
