A Tour of Season’s Past

Sunday, December 2, 2001

1:00-6:00pm.

The home tour is one short week away!

Santa is taking time out of his busy pre-Christmas schedule to visit the Ford Homes District!  Come tell Santa if you’ve been naughty or nice, and let him know what you are hoping to get this Christmas.

Don’t forget to drop off baked goods for the bake sale at Duvall school the day of the home tour at noon or later.

Santa will be at 22538 Beech Street from 5:30-7:30 pm on Saturday, December 8.  Thank you to Larry Beaver for hosting Santa at his home this year!

Since the home tour is district-wide (not just on 1 or 2 streets), it would be great if everyone in the district could help make the neighborhood festive for this occasion:

·     If you have a historic street light in front of your

We will also have FHHD merchandise for sale for anyone who has holiday shopping, and will have the binders of photocopies of our historic houses under construction (taken in 1919 and 1920) for those of you who missed them at the district meeting.

home, it would be great if you could decorate it with cedar roping (or other green roping) and a bow by the tour.  (Note that decorating the street lights will be at your cost.)

·     On the day of the tour, please park your cars in your garage or driveway to allow parking on the streets.

Home Tour Tickets

Tickets will be $12 on Dec 2 at Duvall school, and

·     It is FHHD tradition to have the houses decorated with electric candles in each window.  Please have your candles lit during the home tour hours (1:00-6:00pm).

a $3 trolley pass available that day will give you unlimited trips on the Classic Trolley around the district.  Tour tickets are $10 thru Dec 1 at:

Little Professor (22174 Michigan Ave between Howard and Mason, 278-6633)

Sally’s Gifts (23233 Michigan Ave. at Outer Dr.
in the Westborn shopping center, 565-4777)

Bloomsbury Lane (22149 Michigan Ave in the Starbucks/Mongolian BBQ set of stores, 565-3800)

·     Drive carefully during the day of the tour.  We will have a lot of folks walking around that day.

Invite your friends and neighbors to come to the tour!

Even if you can’t come, please consider buying a ticket to support your neighborhood newsletters, web sites and community events!

And The Winners Are…

Thank You!

Our newest Neighborhood News volunteers are Lisa, Molly,

The FHHD Pumpkin Carving Contest and Neighborhood Stroll were big successes this year.  Thanks to Darcy and Perry Edgell and family for having the warming station in their yard, and for making the spooky life-sized Halloween ghouls that guarded the tent!!  And thanks to our board of directors and head judge Ron Mallord for their judging!

Congratulations to this year’s winners.  First place was won by Laurie and Joseph Caruso, and their sons Vincent, Dominic and Joey at 22361 Gregory.  Their green alien jack-o-lantern was awesome!

Second prize went to Pat Johnson at 22603 Nona for her giant jack-o’-lanterns.  Third prize went to Ellen Hossack of 22726 for her man on the moon themed jack-o-lanterns.  Special honorable mentions go to Lisa Cronin and Ariel Nicolaci of 22030 Francis for their “hip couple” jack-o-lanterns (groovy self portraits!), and to Andrea, Jason, Courtney and Anderson Trapp of 22415 Gregory for their carved alien coming out of the pumpkin!  Everyone else gets an honorable mention.  There were so many outstanding jack-o-lanterns this year that it was very difficult to pick the best ones!

Bobby, & Katrina Menter.  They will be delivering newsletters to Francis homes between Beech and Cass.  Thank you so much!!
