Holiday Home Tour Update

Mark your calendars!!  The Holiday Home Tour is scheduled for Sunday, December 2, 2001.  If you’d like to open your home or volunteer your time, then we’d like to hear from you!!  We’ve got several homes, but could use several more!! If you have any questions, please contact Sylvia Tillman at (313) 278-4055 or Teresa Klimkiewicz at (313) 563-2457.  Remember…  the tour will be district-wide this year, rather than focused on one or two streets!  We’d greatly appreciate some non-Ford Homes to participate - - you’re part of our neighborhood and district, too!

New to the Neighborhood?

If you are a new neighbor, or know someone who is, please contact Michelle Donaldson at 791-0583.  The FHHD Welcoming Committee has a welcoming packet and free gift for you!

Our very special thank you to Michelle for volunteering to welcome our new neighbors to the Ford Homes Historic District, and to Barb Smith, our exiting volunteer.

Edison Street Sale

The Edison Street Sale is scheduled for Saturday, June 2nd (rain date - Sunday, June 3rd).  Please donate baked goods for sale at the district fundraiser tent at 22230 Edison by 8:30am that morning.  Please contact one of the district officers if you have any questions.

Did You Know???…

that the Ford Homes Historic District has a City of Dearborn Neighborhood Liaison?  Well, we do!  And his name is Bob Brandmier.  Bob kindly attended our Spring Meeting on Thursday, April 26th to introduce himself and to share with us news about the surrounding Dearborn area.  Please feel free to call Bob at 943-2475 or rbrandmi@ci.dearborn.mi.us if you have any questions or concerns that affect our neighborhood.  (PS…  Be nice to Bob - - he’s also the City Assessor!!)

Bob also graciously offered to get members of the Ford Homes Historic District an advanced tour of the new Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (formerly the Civic Center).  If you are interested in touring Dearborn’s newest family entertainment facility, please call Dave Tillman at

278-4055 to register.  Date and time to be announced…

FHHD House Plaques

Does anyone need an oval membership plaque?  Call Sylvia Tillman at 278-4055.  We have a very limited supply remaining, but may place another order if we get a lot of interest.

Calling All Green Thumbs!

We are looking for volunteers to help plant annuals on the Military Street medians on Sunday, May 20th beginning at 10:00am.  Please bring your gloves and gardening tools!

AND, the 3rd Annual FHHD Perennial Exchange is scheduled for Saturday, May 26 (rain date - Sunday, May 27).  Please bring all perennials with labels and planting instructions to the Park Street Park at 10:00am.  Happy trading!

Update on Mowing

 the Park Street Park

Thank you to all who volunteered to pitch in and mow the Park Street Park.  However, your services will not be necessary (for THIS project, anyway!!)  A very special young man named Josh who lives on Park Street has stepped forward and offered to cut the Park the entire season.  Thank you, Josh!!  (Our apologies, too.  We didn’t get Josh’s last name.)

Calling All Picasso’s!!

We need help to paint the district sign on the Military Street median.  The Glidden Company, through Kathy and David Jennings, has generously donated paint, so we just need your “artistic abilities”.  Call Kurt Klimkiewicz at 563-2457 if you’d like to help.  Date and time to be announced later…

Are We Missing Anything?

Sometimes things fall through the cracks.  Sometimes we forget.  Sometimes we simply don’t know.  If there’s anything we’re missing or have forgotten about, would you take a moment to remind us?  It could be anything!  Topics of conversation, items that need addressing, projects to be planned, etc.  Just let US know what we can do for YOU!!  Call any one of the district officers with your ideas, comments, etc.
